Business Models

As an engineering-focused company, our goal—first and foremost—is to put our best technology in the hands of developers and let the technology prove itself. Once a developer has seen first-hand what the technology can bring to the application, we work one-on-one to create a business model that balances the demands of the application and the market. Indeed, we try to bind our licensing, deployment, and pricing model to yours to avoid imposing significant administrative overhead related to the use of our technology.

FairCom's business development team is ready to assist you by offering a variety of options for securing licenses for c-treeACE Server technology. FairCom offers the following three standard models for deploying c-treeACE Servers:

  • Purchase Off-The-Shelf
  • Pre-Purchase Duplication & Distribution
  • Quarterly Duplication & Distribution

We have found that these three models work for the majority of development projects. However, we are aware other projects may require custom solutions and therefore invite you to contact FairCom if you are in need of any special licensing, pricing or business development assistance.

Purchase Off-The-Shelf

This program makes c-treeACE Server licenses available for purchase by c-treeACE developers. With this program, FairCom typically sends a complete package including a CD and a shrink-wrap license agreement. This package is then distributed with your product to an end-user (or, for in-house applications, used internally). c-treeACE Servers purchased through this program may be purchased in any quantity. As a provider of OEM database technology, FairCom provides the c-treeACE Server to the developer of the host application -- we do not market or sell the c-treeACE Server directly to end-users. The c-treeACE Server is typically customized by developers of the host application so that it meets the precise needs of that application. Accordingly, if you are an end-user working with an application utilizing FairCom's database technology, please contact your application provider to determine if they already resell the c-treeACE Server. Similarly, technical support for this technology requires a complete understanding of the host application and will come from the provider of that application.

Pre-Purchase Duplication & Distribute

This program is initiated through a signed contract and makes it possible to tightly integrate the c-treeACE Server within your product line. The OEM license agreement grants duplication and distribution rights for the quantity of servers pre-purchased. This makes it possible to integrate the c-treeACE Server directly into your product's installation and distribution processes.

  • No requirement to distribute FairCom shrink-wrap license

Black Line

Quarterly Duplication & Distribution

This program differs from the previous models in that FairCom grants the right for unlimited c-treeACE Server duplication and distribution without the requirement for purchasing individual server licenses in advance. This is the most flexible license and allows the c-treeACE Server to be tightly integrated into your product line. This program is initiated through a signed contract and has specific compensation and reporting requirements. Specifically, FairCom is provided with compensation and a distribution report at the end of each calendar quarter detailing the quantity of c-treeACE Servers distributed during the previous quarter. With a complete understanding of your application requirements, market requirements, and deployment volumes, FairCom can offer substantial discounts to qualified OEM partners in this model.
