Simple Server Deployment

c-treeSQL Production Splash Screen

Developers appreciate the many technical advantages that the c-tree Server brings to an application: great performance, data caching, dynamic backups, scalability, and security to name a few. What makes the server even better is that it is also easy to deploy! With its small footprint, easy configuration and operation, and simple licensing, the c-tree Server quickly becomes a cost effective solution for ISV's and others. Discover how to put FairCom's c-tree Server to work in your next successful application and reduce your support overhead!

Easy to Deploy

Developers unfamiliar with our server technology may not be aware of just how easy it is to deploy. The server itself consists of a single executable and requires a only a sparsity of FairCom DLLs. No registry entries, external DLLs, or platform-specific configuration is required. You simply incorporate the server into your installation processes and start shipping (okay, you have to talk to us about licensing first, and more on that later). The disk and memory requirements of the server are minimal, yet it scales exceptionally well when the resources are present.

The server is typically ready to run upon installation. There are some optional steps (defining user access rights and passwords), and even those can be controlled by the application if desired. Starting the server is as easy as a click of the mouse and developers deploying on Windows platforms can elect to start the server as a service, further simplifying its operation.

Simple to Support

Perhaps the single greatest benefit ISVs get with the c-tree Server compared to other database servers comes after deployment. The c-tree Server is designed for true lights-out operation requiring no ongoing maintenance or tuning. Further, in the event of a hardware failure, the server will automatically recover when it is restarted so your data files are always in a pristine state.

Because of the OEM nature of our technology, any technical support for end-users goes to you, the application provider (and, as always, we're ready to offer you the support you need). This gives your customers a distinct advantage as they are not forced to go to two vendors to obtain support for a single application.

Flexible Pricing and Licensing

You're probably assuming that the hitch must be that the pricing and licensing is the toughest factor in the equation. In fact, that may be the easiest part. Our business development team stands ready to work with you on a licensing model that fits with your application. We have a number of standard models that give you the ability to duplicate the servers without having to purchase physical packages from us, but rather report deployments to us on a periodic basis. For more information on these models, click here.

And like our technology, we try to be flexible on the business side so that - together - we can craft a solution that ensures success for both of us.

The speed comparisons between FoxPro/CodeBase and SQL databases such as DB2, Sybase, and MS SQL are misleading. The very nature of SQL databases is slow throughput. FairCom has a much faster and very reliable solution. We changed to FairCom because we needed a back end that could handle real world loads reliably, and we needed the flexibility to support different platforms. Since we made the change, our customer support calls are down 75%!
